The refund amount for the State of Wisconsin is showing up way to high of a dollar amount. All my income is entered correctly but turbotax is showing that my refund is a very high dollar amount that does not make logical sense.
My state refund should be a few hundred dollars, but turbotax is showing a refund amount that is over 30K which is simply wrong.
Is anyone else noticing this glitch for Wisconsin?

It's probably an error entering state tax withheld, state estimated tax payments, or an amount applied from your 2022 refund. Go back to where you entered your W-2 and any 1099-series forms that have state tax withheld, and any state estimated tax payments. Look for extra digits or a missing decimal point.
Look at Form 1. What are the amounts on lines 27 and 28? Is one of them unusually large? Is there a very large amount on any of the lines 29 through 35? What is the amount on line 36? Line 37 should be blank or zero, and line 38 should be the same as line 36.
How do you edit and access these lines directly?
Click on Federal on the left side of the online program screen
Click on Wages & Income
On the W-2, click on Edit/Add
Review your entries for the state in boxes 15 thru 17 and make sure the correct amount of income and the state taxes withheld are entered. There may be a misplaced decimal point or a comma entered instead of a decimal point.

Are you using TurboTax Online or the CD/download desktop TurboTax software?
If you are using the desktop software you can look at Form 1 in forms mode.
If you are using TurboTax Online the only way to see your state tax return forms is to "print" your return (i.e. create a PDF of it). If you are not using Free Edition you will have to pay the TurboTax fees before you can print.
Yes, I am having the same issue. Last year it was around 1500 and this year it is 15000!
@jmb51180 That sure looks like you accidentally typed an extra digit in one of your entries, or omitted a decimal point.
I am having a similar issue, though not as drastic of a difference from year to year. Last year, my 2023 Wisconsin State refund was around $600, and this year it’s showing nearly $3000. My return is higher than what I actually paid in state taxes. Very little has changed from last year in terms of income. I’m afraid to submit my tax return because I’m terrified that something‘s wrong. This seems like too much compared to every other year I’ve filed in WI since 2008. And I’ve checked my numbers multiple times at this point, and everything is entered accurately.
Please double-check the state withholding (Box 17) entries in the W-2 entry area of the federal program. These sorts of errors often come from a misplaced decimal or other entry error there.
It may help to round the number up or down and leave off the cents.
If the issue persists after this check, please let us know.
I'm having this same issue. I went back and checked the entries on my tax-withholding statements and they are correct. Turbo-Tax (PC version) is showing an amount withheld that is more than double the actual withholding. The program is trying to give me a refund that is much more than I actually paid. I think there is an error in the Wisconsin program.
You advised me to check the entries on my W-2 state tax withholding. I did. The entry is correct.
I’d highly recommend you choose not to file withTurboTax. It showed I was getting a WI state refund of almost $3k, which is insane because that’s more than I paid in state taxes. I picked up forms from the library to do my own calculations; turns out I was right. TT also wanted me to pay to file both state & federal only because my taxable interest earned was from more than one account, even though they were all from the same financial institution (I’ve never had to pay before). And I found out they’ve been lobbying against a free tax filing system for decades. I ended up filing through 1040.com, which I found from the IRS website. It was super easy and free. I just hope that if this is useful info for you, you see this before they delete it.
I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:
*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)
TurboTax: Have you folks escalated this issue for resolution? I'm convinced that there is an error of some sort in the Wisconsin tax withholding routine. I carried over my Wisconsin refund from last year and applied it to my quarterly tax payments. I wonder if that is the issue that is causing the error. In an case, I would like to see this resolved soon.
I know that I can access the actual forms from the program and then modify them, but that seem a less than satisfactory way of doing so, when TurboTax should be handling this correct.
Please advise.
Tom
Sorry--didn't see your follow-up message prior to posting this morning. I created a sanitized copy of my return as you advise. The token number is: 142141710-70606776.
