I haven't been self employed in the past year, should I change the product I use for taxes?

Hi, if you are no longer self employed you may benefit from down-grading the product you use. Here is a quick guide to the different TurboTax products and what forms they support.

But I've already done my taxes. Do I have to delete everything, downgrade the product, then start all over again?? How can I retain what I've already done and still just lose the schedule C? Thanks.

No I have not submitted yet, just done all the prep. I also will be getting 1099s for 2017, so I thought I might need to keep it for 2016 since I did it for 2015 and will be for 2017.

The only way to change versions of TurboTax you are using is by clearing the return and starting over. Unfortunately there is not a way around that to just delete the schedule C.

How much money would it save me to do this (on turbo tax)? If I cleared the return, what would my next steps be? Can you please give me clear instruction? What is the name of the turbo tax product I would choose to avoid the schedule C? Will I still be able to claim health care expenses that went above the regular amount using that product?

I also take it that it doesn't matter that I'll be needing the schedule C for 2017?

If I did keep it as is, would I just fill everything in on the Schedule C as 0?

Follow this link to the product guide. You can again choose the product you will need in 2017. Just remember that TurboTax will automatically defect to the product you used the previous year. So next  year you will again choose the product you want to use. <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/compare/online/">https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-tax...>

If you decide to start over with a different version of TurboTax, here is how:

In TurboTax Online, you can clear and start over as long as you haven't paid or registered yet (free users are asked to register their accounts before they file).

Note: You can’t clear and start over using the mobile app. Instead, log in to your TurboTax account from a desktop or mobile browser to clear and start over.

Sign in to TurboTax Online and open your return by clicking the orange Take me to my return button.
With your screen maximized, click My Account (at the top of your screen toward the right) and select Clear & Start Over. (If on a tablet or phone, you may find the Clear & Start Over option by clicking the three parallel lines, or “hamburger”, in the top left corner.)
Answer Yes to Are you sure you want to clear your return?
After your entries have been cleared out, we'll prompt you to select a TurboTax product so you can start over from the very beginning.

A reason you might want to clear and start over is if you think you’re in a higher-priced version of TurboTax and don’t need to be. Have a look below under Related Information for more details.

If you're signed in under last year's login, once you clear and start over we'll automatically transfer last year's info over if you select the PLUS upgrade, Deluxe, Premier, or Self-Employed. Federal Free Edition (without PLUS) does not include the year-over-year transfer feature.

Hi, I cleared and started over my taxes. I choose premiere and I've reentered all my data except that it is STILL keeping the schedule C! I told it that I no longer had the business but it said it still needed to keep the form up for information from my prior years taxes.  But now it's not letting me finish with reviewing and entering info on schedule C again??? Please help.
