Filing jointly

So I filed a married joint return, but didn’t realize I didn’t have to then file my husbands the same way. So mine was accept as joint and his was rejected.. do I need to do anything since it was accepted filing jointly already under mine? Can I just leave his now or is there something I have to do under his tax account?

Filing jointly

When you filed the "joint" return did you include all of the information for your spouse----and all of his income?  EVERYTHING was supposed to be on that one tax return.   Is his income there too---but entered under his name?  When you file a joint return each income screen has a spot with each spouse's name.

If you did that, and all of your combined income is on that return then you are good and your spouse does not have to file anything else.

Filing jointly

A married filing jointly tax return must include everything for both spouses. If all of the  income and other information for you and your husband was included in the married filing jointly tax return that you filed and was accepted, then nothing more needs to be filed. If everything was not included in the tax return that was accepted, you will need to amend that return sometime after mid February when the amended return form becomes available.

Yes I put everything when I filed jointly on my account. This is the first year we’re filing together, so I assumed on top of filing jointly on my account, that I would have to file jointly on his account too.. which I did and it was rejected when mine was accepted. So I’m wondering if since mine was already accepted as a joint filing if I have to like redo his? Or erase it? I’m not sure if I have to do anything with his rejection if mine was already accepted as a joint one

It sounds like everything was included in the married filing jointly return that was filed and accepted from your account. You can just delete everything on the return that was rejected. Did you have two online accounts? If you paid for both, then you wasted the money you paid for the account on the return that was rejected.

Agree 100%  with Champ @Texas Roger !!   You did not have to do anything at all with your spouse's account.   Going forward, you will know that you only need one account for a joint return.   You do not have to do anything with the return you prepared for your spouse.   Not sure if customer support would refund your TT fee for that unnecessary return you prepared for your spouse, but it might be worth a try.

No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue.  If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help.  Do not use the word “refund.”
