You tell em Greg. This is an absolute DISGRACE. This joke of a company needs to get it together and stop putting out broken software.
I have the home and business. It's a buggy piece of junk. I'll be looking for another product for next year. WHAT A MESS. Of course no support at Turbotax. I wonder if they're just trying to get revenue by SELLING support to frustrated clients? I'm disgusted. I'm going to reverse all the MasterCard charges and move on to a product that WORKS.
It's incomprehensible that you have to explain a common error to the Tech Support.
OMFG! This still happening in March of 2025. WTF?
I have spent all day unsuccessfully trying to get around this error/problem and am finally at this forum with still no luck. I cannot believe it is YEARS of this issues. I agree with you - WTF
And to think the TTX support I just spoke to had the audacity to tell me I was the only one with this problem... unreal
Tech support at TT was USELESS. Each one did the same crap as the one before them. Download a patch. Uninstall. Reinstall. Like it will magically work the next time.
ON MY OWN - I was able to submit my Federal by deselecting the States. Then I got one state to submit. But the 2nd state - NO WAY. Same old failure - TT wanted to be updated. Tech support supposedly sent me to 2nd level tech. She was no better than any of the others. While she was FA and FO, I happened to have another i7 Dell Latitude laying around. I loaded the software there, moved the data over and learned that it's a royal pain in the arse to get one copy of the software to automatically recognize the current year file from another PC. Ultimately, I got the 2nd PC to submit the 2nd state before the TT tech support even got back on the phone.
So..... EFF IT and EFF TT.
The only thing sloppier than their CODERS is the TECH SUPPORT.
YES - I FEEL BETTER.....
I got that same BS from TT about "oh, this isn't common". And I said - funny - it's all over the internet for YEARS. Your sloppy code continues to have the same failure mode year after year. You do know that you can't make BS claims without getting chased, right?
I think they must be have 100% a week turnover.
So if you don't have another PC laying around - I guess I would:
uninstall your TT.
reboot.
use a registry cleaner (CCleaner for instance) to get rid of all the TT artifacts that it leaves in the registry
reboot
reinstall TT
reboot
reinstall the "superpatch"
reboot
try to force a manual update
and then try to SUBMIT your taxes.
The plan above was what I was going to do had I not had another clean PC available. Good luck!
Yes, I checked to assure windows was up to date. It was. Even if it wasn't, the current code should be able to handle any version of windows FFS.
Have you checked the minimum requirements for TurboTax:
Operating Systems
RAM
Hard Disk Space
Monitor
Third Party Software
Internet Connection
If your system is compliant with these requirements, contact us using this link here.
All up to date. This is buggy buggy code. After a decade or more, I'm going to look for another program finally. Thx.
FIX UPDATE - I also posted a separate thread but hopefully this helps someone. Mine fixed.. I did NOT uninstall/reinstall or download any fixes but did the following:
On one thread someone suggested just having patience and hitting the 'update' button everyday. After about 4 or 5 days of doing this it actually started updating the CA part of the download - took a few minutes but I could see it working as the % complete ticked up.
After the update was actually finished (not just saying it updated w/in seconds but not doing anything)... I was able to file without a problem
I hope this helps someone!
Cheers
Funny thing is, my CA went through at the beginning when other states wouldn't. Garbage code.
I did everything that tech support said to do. Nothing worked. Then I did a clean load of TT on a freshly provisioned laptop (same model and op system as the first one) and it worked. Buggy buggy code.
