Failed Vailidation

While I have been able to file my own taxes (apparently the form update was the glitch, since it was not a form I needed or requested to file)...

These instructions do not address my original question from last week—what about those of us on MacOS? A windows update does not help in that situation.

Failed Vailidation

I'm having the same issue, but with OK state.  I was having the error when attempting to file both Federal and State.  I read online and found that removing State would allow Federal to be filed.  Have tried updating everything.  Attempting to download the 331 MB manual update, but it is estimating 2 days to download.  I tried calling tech support, but they were not helpful at all.  The tech thought it would be a good idea to fill out the state forms and mail them in ourselves.  I asked him why we bothered paying for Turbotax at that point.

Failed Vailidation

I am using Mac OS and still have this issue. How should I fix it?

Failed Vailidation

I'm in CA too and tried e-filing tonight and get the same error message.  I've manually downloaded the patch which says installed successfully.  Then tried to e-file again and still says "failure".  I already paid to e-file state too!  I really need to file both ASAP.  Please help!

Failed Vailidation

So, I was having the same problem - CA user.  I had done the return on a different computer and was trying to file from another computer and was having the Failed Validation issue.  Nothing worked.  I went back to the original computer and filed and it had no problem.  I'm sure this info won't help everyone, but thought I'd share just in case.

Failed Vailidation

I am also the same issues.  Never had the 'failed validation' problem efiling both federal and state around the same time (always file my taxes President's weekend).  I'm using TurboTax Deluxe online version (same one as always) for 2024.  My software is updated.  I ran the online updates several times.  I cleared my cache, cookies and browsing history several time.  Rebooted.  Nothing worked.  And yes, I already paid for efiling state return fee (CA) as well.   Can TurboTax expert assist - other than with recommendation to manually update of software that didn't work either?

Failed Vailidation

An update on this - the patch worked only on efiling Federal forms.  Still not able to efile State forms (CA) which I already paid for.

If this problem persists for you, try to e-file your Federal return first without your state. You should now be able to transmit. But it may still get rejected the first time (in my case I was rejected for 1095-A). When I re-open TurboTax to fix the problem, it triggered an update for me. After that all was good. I was able to e-file both Federal and state. Hope this helps.

Failed Vailidation

Thank you for your response.  I stopped retrying for an hour, closed Turbo Tax after I e-filed Federal forms.  I opened Turbo Tax after the hour, it prompted me to update my 2024 software for CA returns.  CA returns were e-filed successfully afterward.

I'm currently on a call with support about this, and she has no idea how to fix it. This is the last time I'll be using TurboTax software. You have a year to prepare your software for tax season and you're unable to push out automatic software updates? Embarrassing. See y'all on HR Block next year.

For the umpteenth time, none of these suggestions fix the problem. Try to be a little more useful, bot.

Failed Vailidation

I am still having the SAME exact issue for the last 1 week with the state of AZ. ALL AZ forms are ready, but still having this useless loop of "software up to date" then "click here to install the latest update!" It's unbelievably annoying. I read somewhere filing federal first then coming back to state could help. WELP, that did not help. The update patches don't work. The uninstall, reinstall does not work. After reading all these comments, I am DREADING calling tech support and wasting more of my time. And I have read of this issue in the last 1-2 years as well with NO FIX. SHAME ON YOU TT FOR TAKING OUR MONEY AND WASTING OUR TIME!

Here's my post if it helps you feel less alone 🙂

Failed Vailidation

I have been having the same issue as everyone else.

I installed the manual update and also online updates with no resolution.

I was able to file federal tax once I decoupled my state (KS), but still could not file KS due to the FAILED VALIDATION error.

Today I uninstalled and reinstalled TurboTax.  It was right after that that I was able to file my state tax.

May be worth it to try uninstalling and reinstalling TT.  It was not very painful.

Good luck to ALL!

**Update**

So I fixed the problem in CA by 1st e-filing Federal without state which went through fine.  Then I read there was an update to CA on 2/12 so I waited overnight then the next day when I relaunched Turbotax  it did the CA 2/12 update.  Then I e-filed for CA and it went through on 2/16. So frustrating and confusing overall which makes me think twice about returning to TurboTax next year!
