W-2's come from employers. If your employer is partnered with TurboTax to allow the W-2 data to be imported into the software you can do that---but you need the actual W-2 so that you can enter the EIN and the amount from box 1 to import the other data from the W-2---which just saves you the little bit of keying in of the other information.
Every 2022 W-2 that you received must be reported on your 2022 tax return, even if they are for small amounts. Remember that each one of those W-2’s has your Social Security number on it, and that income was reported to the IRS by the employer. You do not want to get in trouble with the IRS for under-reporting your income.
ALL of your W-2’s must be entered on the SAME tax return.
Go to Federal>Wages & Income to enter a W-2.
After you enter the first one, you click Add Another W-2.
W-2's come from your employer, and they have until January 31 to issue it. Some employers allow you to import the W-2 through the software, but for security reasons you still need information from the actual W-2 to import it. You might need to phone, drop in, email and/or snail mail an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I did enter my EIN, and the next page asks if I want to take a picture of my W-2 or upload it from my computer. I don't have the W-2 except in hard copy form. So I tried the picture and never got the link it said I should see when pointing my iphone 13pro camera at the QR Code. The instructions on how to change the settings are just plain wrong. My phone has no Apps & Notifications, has nothing called Default Apps, etc.
Has my employer possibly just not done their job and gotten this ready? Or have I discovered yet another little Turbo Tax GUI bug? Each year it's something new and exciting!
@shelldannelley You have a hard copy in hand of the W-2? Stop fighting the technology and just key it in by hand. It will take a couple of minutes.
I do thank you for the quick answers. I am going to type it in by hand tomorrow if it still won't import, and I'll ask some colleagues if they've had the same trouble. If so, I'll get my magnifying glass out and start squinting. Everyone have a good evening.
If you have the W-2 in hand and you manage to import it---you still need to look at the W-2 and compare everything that imports to make sure it is accurate. Imports do not always go in accurately. Find the magnifying glass!
Still cannot import, but my company told me today they have stopped allowing this helpful feature. So I went the trouble of emailing the W-2 from my company email into my webmail on my work PC, then downloading it into my personal computer from that same yahoo account. So now it's all set up - except today I do not get the option to upload from my computer. I will just go ahead and add it manually - for the last time ever, as next year I'll try a product whose web site doesn't stumble over these things. Thanks again for all of the quick replies.
@shelldannelley Your employer stopped allowing import into tax software but you are blaming TurboTax? hmmm...
No, did you read what I wrote? Of course I'm not blaming Turbo. It's AFTER I added the data manually.
But I WAS able to add my credit union interest income by uploading from my computer, something not found today in the W-2 section. Very buggy.
You sound cocky and ridiculous just stop bub
