Estate tax return too late?

Hi there,

My dad passed on 9/13/2023. I did not file a tax return for the estate in 2023, since there was no income.

However, on 5/30/2024, we sold his home.

I'm just now attempting to file a tax return for the estate to report the income from the home sale. Am I too late? The Turbotax Business software says the home sale date needs to be 9/1/2024 - 8/31/2025.

Do I need to file an extension? And if so, it appears I won't be able to use the software to do the return?

I changed the tax year to "calendar" instead of "fiscal" and that will allow me to enter the sale date of 5/30/2024.

But, is this ok?
