I got late tax information after filing my 1040. I just did an amended return but cannot figure out how to efile it because it won't let me. What to do?

I click on the federal form, go to the next window and say no for the state form, go to the next window and it says I haven't selected a form to file. Can I file my amended return electronically? If so, how?

Sounds like what you actually did was mess up your original tax return.   You cannot amend a 2024 return yet.  The Form 1040X that you need will not be available until after mid-February.    Changing things on your original return now just messed it up and you need to restore it to exactly how it looked before you made changes.  When you amend, you have to be able to work from the return exactly as it was when it was filed.

Wait until your original return has been fully processed before you attempt to amend.   Sometimes the IRS catches and corrects your mistakes.   Amending too soon can lead to confusion and long delays.

The Form 1040-X for a 2024 amended federal tax return will not be available for filing in TurboTax until 02/13/2025.
