I received an email today saying error was fixed, but I updated software and it has NOT been fixed. Still calculating additional penalty. Turbo tax stinks this year
Same here; no joy after installing the update. I entered the amount that each of my two accounts said had to be taken out and the 1099-R stated the actual amounts taken out of each, which added up to a bit more than my required distribution. TT still asked if I'd fixed things during the Correction period even though there was nothing to fix. Once again, it appears not to have added the amounts from the two 1099-Rs and compared it to what my total RMD should be.
The instructions are unclear as to what is to be entered for each account, so I'm entering what the financial institution says should be the RMD for each account and TT is picking up the actual amount dispersed from each 1099-R.
P.S. This all worked correctly last year.
I got that email as well, and it seems as though they were saying it was fixed in the WEB version.
Hey TurboTax, how about the APP version we spent a lot of money for?
I've been out of town . Received the notice from Turbo Tax saying RMD has been fixed. Keyed in the correct amount from my 1099-R and surprise surprise nothing is fixed.
On Jan 30 it seems they only fixed the Continue button so you don't have to keep clicking it the number of times for the number of 1099R forms you entered.
Based on the wording of the “it’s fixed” message, I believe they were referring to the WEB based program and not the APP.
They required you to clear all your caches, which would refer to your browsers.
And, you are correct, they have not yet fixed the issue in the APP.
Is this problem going to be fixed ?? I am not comfortable of sending the IRS information that is not correct just to make TurboTax work. I took the correct amount for the RMD requirement. I cannot see entering a value in a Tax Form That I did not withdraw.
I so agree with you I reported this problem 1/16/2025 and still the problem exist. I'm with you I do not want to lie to the IRS. My taxes show I withdrew $54,000.00 for my RMD when the required amount was $26,937.83. Turbo Tax has a really big problem and needs to get an expert in to fix it. They also need some new system analyst.
I just downloaded the latest "UPDATE"??? And the problem still exists.
I don't know why TurboTax doesn't respond or address this problem.
I'm either lying on my tax return or paying an additional $5,000.00 in erroneous tax amounts due to this BUG.
Looks like I paid $80 to be able to print blank forms and do my taxes manually.
COME ON TT AT LEAST GIVE US SOME SORT OF RESPONSE!!!!!
I so agree with you. My grandson works for Turbo Tax so I'm going to ask him if they ever look at the community discussion board.

I am about ready to give up. We called support today and got nowhere.
Check out the discussion on another part of the community forum. It appears that TT is aware of the issue.
Is this problem only with TurboTax Deluxe desktop or is it with all TurboTax products. I can't see where TurboTax is doing anything to correct this problem. I am being charged a $360 penalty that is not correct.
It must be all the desktop versions.
I have Premier and it’s on that platform.
