The Earned Income Tax Credit is different from the Child Tax Credit.
The Child Tax Credit is $3,600 for qualifying children under the age of 6 and to $3,000 per child for qualifying children ages 6 through 17.
Before 2021, the credit was worth up to $2,000 per eligible child, and 17 year-olds were not eligible for the credit. On a 2019 return, your child tax credit would be $2,000.
On a 2019 Form 1040, the Child Tax Credit will be on line 13a and the Additional Child Tax Credit will be on line 18b. The Earned Income Tax Credit will be on line 18a.
