E-filing for a deceased person. whose drivers license do i use?

I'm very sorry for your loss. You need to use the deceased persons ID because even though they are no longer here, you are still filing their return. I hope that helps.

My mother passed away jan 8,2025. Her drivers license expired 5/31/23. She has a state ID that does not expire. Which do I use for 2024 taxes?

You aren't required to provide a valid identification to e-file your federal return. Not submitting it might affect the processing of some state returns.  In your case, if you want to enter one, use the state ID that hasn't expired.
