how about i just personal take my state id down and just show them and that's it. my id alone should be proof enough that that's who i am and yes i did file . i mean this whole proof of identity is that i am the person on the filed tax return . here's my id see my face its me ...? thank you for answering my question

If you received a letter from your state asking you to verify your identity, it would be in your best interest to follow the instructions given to you in the letter. If the letter says appearing in person with your state ID is an option, then go for it.
