Does the employer need to give an employee a W2 if they were employed all year but we're paid no wages?

My wife works part time, and is meant to be paid an hourly wage. Through the magic of ADHD she submitted no time cards and was paid nothing. Dealing specifically with the taxes side of this, is her employer required to give us a W2 showing no wages?

What?   How long did she work for the employer?   Did no one notice she was not being paid?   What does the employer say about a W-2?   Does she have any paystubs at all?   Anything to show that she worked?   You actually have a legal issue to pursue.

No, an employer would not be required to file a W2 for an employee if no wages were paid.  The employer is required to provide the W2 if Withholding, Social Security/Medicare was withheld or if she was exempt from withholding.
