Did you have 2800 on 1040 line 30 for the Recovery Rebate Credit for the 3rd Stimulus? Did you already get the 3rd Stimulus they sent out last year starting in March? You also would each get letter 6475 saying waht they sent you. Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more.
If you claimed a missing stimulus payment on your return but the IRS took it off you have to ask the IRS. They think they already sent it to you. Maybe it went to an account you don't remember. Or you got a check or a card. It was probably easy to miss the debit card in the mail and think it was junk mail. They have to put a trace on it.
Double check your bank accounts and check both your IRS accounts if married to see when and how much the IRS sent you.

Best guess.....That could be a mistake made if you said you did not receive the 3rd EIP payment ($1400 per person "stimulus") but you really did receive it. The IRS knows if they sent it to you, and if you put it on line 30 by answering that you did not get it, they took it away from your refund, since you cannot get it twice.
But you will receive a letter from the IRS explaining why your refund was reduced. The IRS does not tell TurboTax when they reduce your refund.
We're stumped. We had TurboTax help me complete our tax forms. We received 2 stimulus payments last year totaling $2800 and this was placed on line. We feel we should've gotten a refund of $3144 but only got $344 ($3144 - $2800). To add to the frustration we can't talk to a live IRS person for an explanation and hit a dead end with their phone tree.
Can you help?
Thanks

So the 2800 showed up on 1040 line 30? But you already got it. You tried to claim it again. Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more. You can't get it twice.
