Does a single college student making over $12,000 pay taxes on all of the income or each additional dollar over $12,000?

Filing as a single college student in 2018 my income was under $12,000 and untaxed. If I make more than $12,000 this year will all of my income be taxed or just each additional dollar over $12,000? For example if I make $15,000 will the $15,000 be taxed or just the $3,000?

Thanks

Only the amount greater than your Standard Deduction of $12,000 filing as Single is taxable on the 2018 tax return.

The standard deduction for married filing jointly rises to $24,400 for tax year 2019, up $400 from the prior year. For single taxpayers and married individuals filing separately, the standard deduction rises to $12,200 for 2019, up $200, and for heads of households, the standard deduction will be $18,350 for tax year 2019, up $350.

This answer assumes the income was all from wages ... if it was from self employment or unearned income the answer would be different.
