Look at your Form 1040. Do you see an amount on line 35a? Or on line 37?
PREVIEW 1040
Line 35a is a federal refund.
Line 37 shows tax due if you owe the IRS.
No one here is able to see your screen to tell you if you owe the IRS or if they owe you.
There are a few ways you can determine whether you owe them or they owe you. In the upper left hand corner of your screen, if it says Federal Due- then you owe the IRS. If it says Federal Refund, then that is what you are getting back. If you are using the desktop version, the numbers should be in the upper middle of your screen.
Also, if you look at like 35a of your form 1040, if the $15,000 is on this line, then that is your refund. If the $15,000 is on line 37, then you owe the IRS this amount.
If this is far off from what you have owed or received in previous years, you should go back and double check your entries to be sure there are no decimal points in the wrong place or typos.
