Do I need to issue a 1099-MISC to my acting agents and also send it to the IRS if I want to use the commissions that I pay them as a deduction/expense in my schedule c?

I know where to add the amounts in TurboTax. There is a "commissions" box right under "advertising" in business expenses but when i click on "more info" about comissions it starts mentioning issuing a 1099-MISC to agents/managers. I guess that kind of makes sense since you ARE paying them but I want to make sure that that's indeed necessary if you're planning on putting an amount in that "commissions" box.

Yes, it is an IRS requirement if you are going to deduct it as part of your business expenses, if you paid someone such as the acting agent $600 or more. In addition,  Form W-9 is also required to be filled out by individuals when they are working as a freelancer or independent contractor. You can issue form 1099 MISC with this link https://quickemployerforms.intuit.com/signin.htm provided to Quick Employer Forms. You do have to have a return started (not completed) and you do have to pay your Turbo Tax fees for your personal return. There is no additional charge for Quick Employer Forms. Once, you sign into TurboTax, after you select Continue My Return, you can select create 1099-MISC from the list of things under Manage Your Return. Besure to download a copy and send to the agent.
