Disability Amount for a Dependent Adult

I am completing my dependent adult's taxes. I am answering the Disability Amount questions correctly on his return. My husband will be claiming the disability amount. Why is answering the Disability amount questions on my son's return changing the refund amount (refund going up) for my son when he will not be claiming it? This did not happen on previous tax years

Please explain what you are trying  to do.  You mention an adult dependent who receives disability, and then you mention that his father is claiming the disability income on his own tax return.    If your son receives disability benefits, his benefits do not go on anyone else's tax return.  If they go on any tax return at all, they go on your son's tax return.   Is your son receiving Social Security disability?   Does your son have any other income of any kind?

@geovero Can you clarify what you mean by "disability amount"?  In most cases, your husband would not report your son's disability income on his tax return.
