Did anyone else not realize they were being charged an additional $44 to file because of a third party fee? What I thought was $78 total turned into -$122 from my return.

Did you e-file already?   If you have not e-filed then you can still back out of that extra refund processing fee by paying for using TurboTax upfront before you file by using your own credit card or debit card.   If you already e-filed, sadly, you are too late to change that choice to pay for the third party bank to take your fees out of your federal refund.

How can I see my TurboTax  fees?

If your TurboTax fees are higher than expected, you can reduce them by removing add-ons     (BEFORE you e-file) :

I e-filed and received my refund which was shorted by a charge I didn't see or authorize for that fee.

Yeah, it feels EXTREMELY deceptive and very poorly advertised.  Aside from it being unfair that TurboTax is allowing this fee to transpire.

I work in payment processing.  Whomever the third-party bank Intuit is partnering with might be, that bank earns their revenue through transactional fees charged to the merchant, not to the consumer.  The extra $44 is a JUNK FEE.

Intuit wants to charge me $44 to pay Intuit for the services I used.  Imagine if you walked into a store, selected two items for $118 and then the cashier explained it would cost a further $44 for the right to pay for the items you'd like to purchase.
