Credit Card and delayed payment

I see that if I pay by check, I can send my return early and still set it up to pay later. Can I do that with a credit card or do I have to come back to the computer when I want to pay even though I have already filed?

Credit Card and delayed payment

If you didn't pick a payment date, the default payment date for a direct debit is the due date of the return which is April 15, 2025 for the 2024 tax year.

However, you can also go the IRS website and make an earlier payment here: IRS Make a payment using your bank account or debit card or credit card.

They also have other payment options on their website.  Be aware that a late payment make cause you to have a penalty.

Credit Card and delayed payment

I want to file today, but wait until the 15th to pay with a credit card. I can't figure out how to do that on Turbo Tax. I have gone through the entire process and it is clear, it is going to charge me today. I want to get our State refund started and wait to pay the Feds. Just won't let me submit the state without submitting the Federal.

Credit Card and delayed payment

It doesn’t matter now, but my problem was I could not find any place to set the payment date if I used credit card to pay. I am just going to wait until the 15th to file. It was frustrating that the website didn’t specifically address this issue that I could find.
