Minnesota Frontline Worker is reported on an IRS form 1099-MISC. The form will include the "Payers Federal EIN" in the box labeled Payers TIN.
To enter Minnesota Frontline Worker, follow these steps:
In the Minnesota tax return, remove the income at the screen Frontline Worker Pay.
Here are the instructions I followed and didn't have to pay turbotax upgrade fees:
1.) Log out of turbotax
2.) Setup a new account at free tax USA
3.) front line worked payment input as misc other income, removed on state. Same as turbotax.
4. Done. Paid $15 total including efiling. Was just as easy to use, maybe easier.
Not sure why you handled it this way turbotax. Seemed a little greedy but I realize its your right. It was my right to change providers, possibly for life.
I have entered the amount into my Federal as instructed. When I do my MN return I enter the same but when it runs a check it I keep getting a loop of check this entry when the amount on federal and the amount on MN match.
Don't bother with upgrading to deluxe, my husband bought the disc, it was refused 3 times. We have paid another $78 to do on line and now it is "ready" to file, and they say I am not reporting my front line pay on federal. Wants another $80 to get personal help! Ridiculous, last time we will be doing TurboTax!
I put the MN frontline in the place where you said to and it still wants Minnesota's federal ID number
Wisconsin resident that works in MN and received MN Frontline Worker pay. When filling out the information in turbotax for MN under Income allocations, do I add the frontline worker pay about under the section that says enter the amount taxable to Minnesota along with Wages and Salaries (i.e. Gambling winning and "other income") and then under deductions that amount would be included under deductions?
When you work on your minnesota non-resident return, you will report the full amount of the income in the allocation screen provided that you mentioned above. Later on in the Minnesota state return interview, it will ask for any amount reported for Minnesota Front Line Worker pay, here you will enter the amount and it will be excluded from Minnesota non-resident income.
I CAN'T FIND THE FRONTLINE WORKER SCREEN IN MN TURBOTAX
You can find the frontline worker screen under less common income on the federal return. To enter the income follow these steps:
for everyone struggling with the EIN or tax ID number, if you click the BOTTOM link "other reportable income" INSTEAD of the top link that says "other reportable income not already reported. basically it's a 1099C instead of a 1099A and is just a box where you put in the amount and a short description. good luck! 🙂
Thank you!
This is baloney, it doesn't work. If you have any other income to claim it will say you need Deluxe.
This didn't work. I still have to pay for deluxe. Please tell me how I can avoid paying $60 on a bonus I got for risking my life in a hospital as a nurse in a pandemic. This is incredibly greedy of turbo tax.
It not only charged me $60, it charged me a total of $193 plus tax. For what, I don't know. I did a chat session with someone who gave me a 20% off code but when I went to use it it changed the $59 for federal to $129 now with no explaination. I then got someone on the phone who emailed me "100% off code" which it said was successfully applied but charged me the $193 plus tax on my VISA card anyway. I called again and was told to fill out a form asking for a refund, which takes 5 - 7 days and who knows what will happen. What a rip off.
