My child care credit is less than it was last year. Is this accurate?

The childcare credit was reduced from the generous amounts given for 2021 returns, and it is also non-refundable. The childcare credit can only be used to reduce your 2022 tax owed.

Yes. The Child and Dependent Care Credit reverted back to pre-pandemic guidelines.

The Child Tax Credit, the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child and Dependent Care Credit have reverted to pre-COVID levels. This means taxpayers will likely receive a significantly smaller refund than last year.
- For the Child and Dependent Care Credit, taxpayers may receive up to 35% of their employment-related expenses for 2022.
