Can the Federal Tax deduct itself?

2022 Self employed paid federal and state income tax at end of year.

2023 Self employed. Did not prepay federal nor state tax using quarterly or other payment method.

Can I deduct both my 2022 federal tax and state income tax paid, from my 2023 taxes? Thank you.

No.   Federal tax you paid last year is not deductible on your 2023 return.

No. First of all, you can never deduct federal income tax paid unless you made estimated tax payments for the year.. State income taxes paid can only be deducted in the year they were paid and if you can itemize deductions for the year 2022.

Regardless, these cannot be claimed in 2023..

Or----are you trying to ask about entering estimated tax you paid during 2023?   Did you make quarterly estimated payments ---is that what you are asking about?

state income taxes you paid in 2022 are deductible on your 2022 return if you itemize your deductions (schedule A) . The same applies to 2023
