Hello,
I had insurance from Marketplace 2020 but I did not receive 1095-A form for some reason. When I am looking at my healthcare.gov account, it shows me hardship exemption, probably because I entered zero income in the beginning of the year. I've found job later and got about 13K per year. I assume that it's main reason why they don't provide me 1095-A. Probably I have to delete exemption, but I'm not sure. Calling to Marketplace is not very helpful. All operators tell, that I have to get form, but they don't understand why it's not showing up.
What can I do in this case? Can I remove exemption from my account manually?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You still need Form 1095-A. The hardship exemption will apply until the month you began working.
It depends on where you signed up for the medical insurance. Go to healthcare.gov, or to the state Marketplace, wherever you signed up.
See: IRS: What should I do if I don't receive a Form 1095-A?
If your employment status was not updated with healthcare.gov or the state Marketplace, part of the Premium Tax Credit must be returned. This can be done on your tax return.
For more information, see: Premium Tax Credit: Claiming the Credit and Reconciling Advance Credit Payments.
Once you have Form 1095-A, see this article regarding reporting it: Where do I enter my 1095-A?
Hello! Thank you for the answer.
Probably I did not explain my problem very well. Marketplace just don't provide my 1095-A form. Because nobody knows why, probably software. Every operator I was calling to, answered different way. Some say to wait some more. One said that you don't need at all. I don't know what I can do, instead of calling them again and again.
It looks like that I will have to file without that somehow because April 15 is too close,
Hello,
I've got the answer recently. I called to marketplace and they told me, that my plan was really catastrophic (Oscar Simple Secure, $206/mo) and they won't give me 1095-A form because of that.
It was something new for me, but I have question. Should I file without 1095-A? I have 1095-B but looks like, it is not needed.
Form 1095-B is used to report certain information to the IRS and to taxpayers about individuals who are covered by minimum essential coverage and therefore are not liable for the individual shared responsibility payment.
You don't need to report form 1095-B on your return.
Thank you.
But what if I will file my return without 1095-A, because I can't get it? Will IRS know this? Or they will send 8962 back to me?
I did not get tax credit from marketplace, just paid full price for insurance.

What if I don't have or lost my 1095-A?
