Go to forms from the property tax entry screen and manually enter the date in Schedule A. I have multiple property tax entries so I drill down to the supporting lines.
Thanks for the tips. Updating Schedule A directly works but if I have to modify the numbers, I'd have to go back to the form again b/c Turbotax's user-interface does not 'apply those numbers to the correct fields in the UI. Intuit really needs to fix this. What a waste of every tax payer's time! This is the worst bug I encountered with this 2024 version. Other small bugs just look silly but not critical.
It seems this has been an on going program bug in Turbo Tax that they have decided is not resolve for to their paying clients. Frankly, this may be the last year that I use TT! I always add their Audit
Protection program. Last year I am still fighting with the IRS for a significant refund. Have had to resort to my Congressman to resolve the issue of a withheld refund on what never reached the AUDIT level. At the cost of a Premier package, I am not at all happy with my lack of results from Turbo Tax!
To enter the property tax:
Or, use the forms view to enter the additional property taxes."
I am trying to enter property tax on January 20, 2024 and still cannot do this.
I have the latest updates installed. I am using the Windows version

Click on Forms in the upper right of the desktop program screen when using the desktop editions for Windows. In Forms mode, open the Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet (Tax & Int Wks) on the left side of the forms mode screen.
Enter the amount of property taxes paid on Line 2 of the worksheet.
TT Deluxe will not allow me to enter anything in line 5b (real estate taxes) nor will it allow me to get the supporting details table for this entry.
Makes it impossible to do my taxes. After nearly 30 years of using TT, it is time to bail. The support people say it is due to IRS regulations. I say it is a bug that they refuse to repair.

Follow the instructions in the post by DoninGA directly above your post. You cannot enter real estate tax directly on Schedule A. You have to enter it on the Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet.
If you click on Schedule A line 5b a small magnifying glass will appear to the left. If you click on the magnifying glass it will take you to the Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet. You can use Supporting Details on line 2a or 2c of the Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet.
OK, the work around works, but what is the point of the step by step section if I just have to go to the forms to input the data? This seems needlessly irritating, and should be recorded as a significant bug and corrected.
