My son got married in late 2024 and most likely will file his tax return as 'married filing jointly.' Can he use the TurboTax software (and free Federal e-file) I have installed on my laptop to file his return? (He might not even want to, but I'd like to give him that option since I will likely help him with his taxes this year anyway.) Thanks in advance!

The TurboTax user license allows one user to install copies of TurboTax on up to five computers that the user owns. You can prepare multiple returns, including returns for other people. The license does not allow one copy to be shared among different people. You are required to log into your TurboTax online account when you install the program for the first time. This locks one particular copy of the program and one license code to one user account.
Thanks for the quick response! I'm not sure I understand what that means. Is it accurate to say that I can use my TurboTax on the same laptop I'm using to file my taxes to also file taxes for my son (who is married filing jointly)? If that's not correct, how can we can use my TurboTax (on the same or a different device) to file his taxes?
You can use your license to file 5 returns and can use any devices you want, but you will have to log into your Intuit Account. The 5 returns will be tied to your account.
