Can I use TurboTax to prepare a federal return for an adult family member?

Yes, you can use TurboTax to prepare a federal return for an adult family member.  If you are using the online version, you will need to create another account for them as you cannot do multiple returns with the online program.  If you want to file more than one return, depending on whether or not people you are filing for qualify for free, sometimes it is cheapest to use the desktop version where you can file 5 returns for the purchase of one download. 

 

There is nothing you need to do to authenticate anything in TurboTax.  As long as you have consent of the person you are filing for, you are good to go.

Can I use TurboTax to prepare a federal return for an adult family member?

Online is only good for one return per account. But you can use the same email address for 5 accounts.
