My .tax2023 transfer file disappeared. I have the desktop premier version. I was able to start my 2024 return using the 2023 pdf file, which did not disappear. However, when using the 2023 pdf file instead of the missing transfer file, it appears to have transferred my only some items. Most prior year information, including schedules with years of activity did not transfer over. I have to re-add these items like I'm adding them for the first time. Is there a way to transfer all of the prior year schedules from the pdf? I don't want to have to start over-- I'm multiple years into some schedules and also want to have the year over year comparisons and other roll-forward schedules.

You cannot recreate your depreciation schedules by importing the prior year PDF. However, when you add the assets to your 2024 return, using the information on the 2023 depreciation schedules will result in the program calculating the same information. For example, the accumulated depreciation as of the end of 2023 per your PDF will be the same as your beginning accumulated depreciation for 2024. If the amounts don't match exactly, you can make adjustments in the Asset Worksheets in Forms view.
Thank you. Also because my .2023tax file disappeared, how do I bring my 2023 loss carryover into 2024 taxes.
Thanks.
Same way. You will have to manually transfer the amounts from the forms on your pdf into the forms on TurboTax. Make sure the beginning amount from this year matches the ending amount from last year.
