No.  A tax refund cannot be direct deposited into a foreign bank outside the US.  A tax refund can only be direct deposited into a US bank located in the US.  You can only receive your tax refund as a check mailed to the address on your tax return.

You will need to speak with your local bank officials for the procedure to deposit a US Treasury check.

Thanks, I opted for the mailed check. If you have any idea on the postage time it would be helpful. Thanks again for the info.

I would only assume that it would take anywhere from 10 to 14 days after the IRS has Approved the tax refund and then Sends the refund before it would arrive at your home in Australia.
