We are unable to deduct your TurboTax fees from your federal refund because your refund doesn't meet the requirements. It must be high enough to cover TurboTax fees. In addition, any stimulus payment credit (also known as Recovery Rebate Credit) which may be added to your refund amount, doesn't count towards the minimum federal refund required to cover TurboTax fees. If you choose to file using a TurboTax product that has a fee to use, you can only choose the option to pay from your refund if the refund as calculated will be large enough to cover that fee.

If the refund isn't large enough to cover the fee, you would need to choose another method of payment in order to file using that product.

Visit this webpage to see whether you would qualify to use TurboTax Free Edition. This is the only version of TurboTax that doesn't have a fee.
