Can I file taxes next year

No,  You cannot wait until next year to file your taxes.

You need to file them this year and pay the amount you owe or set up payment arrangements with the IRS.  If you choose to wait until next year to file, you would be subject to fines and penalties.

Click here to file an extension.  Remember an extension is just for extra time to file, not extra time to pay.  If you are going to owe anything, you will still need to pay by April 15th.

You can pay directly via the IRS website which is the recommended way or you can pay by check.  Be sure to include your SSN on your check and the tax year.  If you are unable to pay your taxes in full, you should still file by April 15th, but you can apply for a payment plan from the IRS
