Can I file my Va. separate from my federal yes or no

@boothpatricia280  asked:  " Can I file my Va. separate from my federal yes or no"

If you are referring to efile and want to file them separately, then you must efile the Federal return first.   Then once the Federal return has been accepted for processing by the IRS, you can efile the state return.

If that's not what you were asking, then please provide more explanation about what you're wanting to do..

Yes you can file a state return separate from Federal.  But if you want to efile state you have to efile federal first and federal is accepted.   If you don't want to file federal or want to file state first,  you will still have to fill out federal and pay for it and then you will have to print and mail state.
