My boss placed wrong s.s number on my paystub I filed last year without know. Please help my ss [removed] my. Dob is [removed]
Ok ... so you should have gotten a W-2 form from the employer and used that to file the return. Never use a paycheck stub if you can possibly help it.
Next ... did you actually file a tax return using the SS# on your paystub and not your actual SS#? If so did you mail in the return ? If so did the IRS reject it yet and mail you a notice ? Did you mail in a copy of the paystub with the paper return ?
@Gordonrose No one at TurboTax can fix this for you. You say your employer had a wrong SSN on a "paystub." Did they use the wrong SSN on your W-2? If so, you need to have your employer make a correction and issue a corrected W-2---called a W-2C---with the correct Social Security number. This will be important for your taxes, but also for your future Social Security benefits. You want to make sure that Social Security has correct information from all of your employers regarding your earnings.
