Hi
I would like to know if I can purchase the download Turboxtax but ends up doing taxes online? I really don't want to install things on some PCs I have.
thanks
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
No. It does not work that way. If you use the CD/download for federal you need to use it for state too. You cannot "mix and match" desktop and online software. Pick one----desktop or online and use it for both.
The TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions and the TurboTax online web-based editions are separate programs. You can use one or the other, but not both unless you want to pay for each edition and not use one of the editions you paid for.
Go to this TurboTax website for the online editions and either sign onto your existing account or Sign Up for a new online account - https://turbotax.intuit.com/
how many PCs I can install on per one purchase? thanks

Per the TurboTax license for the software you can install the software on up to 5 computer that you personally own.
Thanks, among those 5 computers, if I login using the same user id etc, is the content inside turbox tax synced?
Only if you use the Online browser version. If you use the Desktop CD/Download program the returns are only saved and stored on the computer they were done on. If you want to move a return to another computer you can copy the .tax2023 file. But you can get messed up doing that if you go back and forth.
Can a single purchase of 'TurboTax Business 2023' be used for both my c corp and personal filing all together? Or it only works for c corp. And I need to purchase another one like 'TurboTax Premier Federal plus State 2023' for personal? thanks
Sorry you need to use 2 different programs. You need to buy Turbo Tax Business, not to be confused with the personal Home & Business version. Home & Business is just for personal returns that need schedule C for self employment. TT Business is not available to do online or on a Mac. You can buy the Windows Desktop program here,

You can have both a personal program and the Business program installed on the same computer at the same time. Or you can use the Online browser version to do the personal return.
Great, I purchased the turbotax premier desktop and installed the software. Upon singing in, it asks "Begin" or "Continue From TurboTax Online". If I choose "Continue From TurboTax Online" , does that mean I can do my taxes online? I prefer to do it online and remove this software on my PC . Any catch to choose 'Continue From TurboTax Online" ? At last, sorry for the questions since this is my first time using turbotax.
thanks
NO! Continue from Online means if you already started an Online return you can move it to your computer to continue. You can Switch to Desktop. But it is only 1 way from Online to Desktop. You can't go back to Online.
Here's some more info on the differences between Online and Desktop CD/Download.
DESKTOP
The CD/Download Desktop you buy and install the program, which can do unlimited returns. The returns are only saved on your computer and can not be accessed from anywhere else. And not saved at Turbo Tax. So Be sure to save Frequently and make backups. You get 5 federal efile for free. In Deluxe and above you get 1 state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited state returns (in that state). Each state return including the first one is $20 early or $25 to efile or you can print and mail the state for free. The Desktop programs do not have the expert help that is available to add to Online versions.
Desktop also has many other features and advantages over the Online version. You can do more than 1 return. You can see and enter into the actual forms. It has a What-If worksheet. And you can use a lower version because all the Desktop versions have ALL the same forms. You just get more help in the higher versions. In online you have to upgrade to enter certain kinds of income. Like Premium for investments.
And the Desktop program is always available even after the year ends. Which is good if you ever need to amend your return after online website is closed or get audited and need your tax records.
ONLINE VERSION
The Online web version is only good for one account and one return. You can log in and access your return from any computer. You only can see the forms after you pay and download the pdf. And you might need to upgrade to a higher version to enter different kinds of income. And you can add LIVE service or Full Service for expert help. In Online the fees are to prepare the federal and state returns (State is a separate charge) whether you efile or print and mail. Efiling is free and included. And you might not be able to access your return in the future when they close the current year to get ready for the next year. Like if you need a copy to get a loan or something. So be sure to save your return as both the .tax2023 data file and the .pdf file to your computer each year in case you need a copy or need to amend in the future .
