Can dancers/entertainers expense the "house fee" the club charges them that allows them to work for the day? What kind of expense would this be categorized as?

This is not the tip out of my earnings for the day. Before I even start working, I pay the club a "house fee" that varies depending on what time I come in and what day of the week it is. Can this be considered an expense, and if so, what would I list it under?

Yes, the house fees can be considered a business expense.

There is not a set category in Schedule C where it would fit.  Instead, you could include them under the Less Common Expenses section, using the Other Miscellaneous Expenses category.  Doing so will allow you to enter your own description for the expense.

Be sure that you have kept good records of the amount that you had to pay since the fee varied from day to day.
