Is PATH holding up my state refund too or why does FTB say requires additional processing time and allow 3 mo from the date you filed your return to complete processing?

I claimed the same dependent as last year and nothing has changed except I was on unemployment part of the year in 2016.

Is PATH holding up my state refund too or why does FTB say requires additional processing time and allow 3 mo from the date you filed your return to complete processing?

The PATH act is a Federal law and has nothing to do with states.

So then why would FTB be telling me my return requires additional processing time so allow 3 mo from the date I filed if nothing has changed other than I made less money than the prior year?

That question should be directed to the FTB.

By FTB I am assuming California which has it's own check your refund status:
<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.ftb.ca.gov/online/refund/index.asp?WT.mc_id=HP_Online_WheresMyRefund&WT.svl=Ref2">https:...>

If you paper filed it says right on that page that paper filing takes up to 12 weeks (3 months) to process.

If it was that easy to contact FTB then I would have already, this is supposed to be a site for asking questions to the community and getting feedback which is what I'm doing! I did not paper file, I e-filed like I always do and I'm aware of the way to go about checking my refund status on the FTB site; that's how I saw the message regarding taking more time to process and up to 3 months.

Call this number [phone number removed] it’s the direct number to tax compliance. You might have a withholding error or identity issue that can be answered in a few questions with one of the reps. I post this number every year and many have had success using it. Be nice when you call. Good Luck.
