Are you self-employed or are you a W-2 employee?
Can I deduct job-related expenses on my tax return?
Sorry---W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return. Job-related expenses were eliminated as a federal deduction for W-2 employees by the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond.
I am self-employed. Use vehicle for managing own rental properties
Techically, it would depend on when you drove to the gas station. If you did it persuant to a trip to a rental property, then it woud be deductible. But if you did it on a trip to the grocery store, it would not. You can only deduct the mileage incurred while traveling to see your rental properties.
