2019 AGI does not exist

I don't seem to see this topic addressed on the support page.  The questions and answer dance around the topic however.   For 2020 returnTurbotax asks for my 2019 AGI which the software automatically inputs the number from the previous years return.  However, the IRS does not have that number in their system.  Here is my question, I e-filed once for 2019, had a mistake and it got rejected so had to mail in an amended form.  I recently followed the directions of establishing an irs.gov account to get a transcript but there is no transcript yet for 2019 because when you search the internet about this it says the irs has trailers full of paper returns they are working through and are limited because of finite manpower.   So I can't verify my identity with the irs for 2020 return because they have not worked through my paper copy of my 2019 return.   What do I do?  Send 2020 return in as paper also?  Put zero for AGI for 2019 and hope that works?  Anyway to use 2018 AGI for verification? How do I have confidence the irs will get my 2019 return processed before April 15th of 2021?

No your 2018 AGI will not work.  If your 2019 AGI is not in the system then try using zero.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I used zero and will report back in a few days if the return was accepted or not.

Got a reject email again today so the Zero doesn't work at least for my return.

The problem for the second e-file reject was I didn't set the AGI to zero for my wife.  I didn't recall turbotax asking about the spouse AGI but after changing that the return was accepted.

I'm glad to hear you able to file.

For future reference, save copies of your tax documents. Any that are not in a digital format, scan them. Burn all of them to a disk and/or a flash drive, and put a copy on a Cloud drive.  I know it's being redundant but disk break, flash drives get lost or reformatted and we replace our computers more often than we'd like.

If the IRS wants to audit you they usually only go back 3 years, but if they find some major errors, they can go back 10 years. Anything beyond that is outside of the statutory limits.

I have religiously used Turbo Tax for many years because I really like being able to import darn near every thing needed.
