When I enter the information from the 1099 MISC that I received from the UAW I am receiving errors and it takes me to a schedule C which I did not receive or have information. Turbo Tax will not let me proceed to file my federal return and list numerous errors for schedule C. Please Help.

Delete the 1099-misc you entered and re-enter it as follows:

    Click Federal

    Click Wages & Income

Click “See All Income” if needed

Scroll down (PAST SELF-EMPLOYMENT) to “Other Common Income”

    Click “Show more”

    Scroll down to “Form 1099-MISC”

    Click Start

    Enter the 1099-MISC and Continue

On the “Describe the reason for this 1099-MISC” screen enter something like “UAW strike pay” and Continue

Select “None of these apply” and Continue

Select “No, it didn’t involve work like main job” and continue through the interview selecting the appropriate answers for this strike pay

The amount from the 1099-MISC will be reported as Other income on the 1040 line 7a, not as Self-employment

When I entered the 1099 misc I answered everything as you described above and I still get those errors regarding schedule C.

You will want to delete the Schedule C- follow these steps: Solved: How do i delete a schedule c form.  Because you are getting the errors, I would suggest deleting the Schedule C AND the 1099-MISC, then use the prior steps to re-enter.  Let me know if this works for you!

UAW strike pay should not be reported as self-employment income.  Delete the 1099-Misc that you entered.

To correctly report the 1099-Misc income, scroll down to Other Common Income to report the 1099-Misc.

    • Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
    • Along the top of the screen, click on Income & expenses.
    • Under Your Income and expenses, click Edit/Add to the right of Other common income.
    • Click Start / Revisit to the right of Form 1099-Misc.
    • Under Describe the reason put UAW strike pay.

I deleted my 1099-MISC and reentered as described above and it still files as Section C? How can I fix this?
