We sold our home, this home was in a tax abatement and after the sale I had to pay $3,242.27 in property taxes to bring the taxes back current. Can I deduct that?

Yes.  The property was owned by you when the tax liability occurred. You can use them as a deduction on itemized deductions.

Follow the steps below to enter your property taxes paid for 2016.

You can go directly to the area to enter the document by following these steps.

1. Sign into your account and select your current return.

2. Select  My Account on the top right and then select Tools

3. Select Topic Search (see attached image)

4. Search for itemized deductions and select Go

5. Follow the interview to enter your property taxes paid.
