Why is my 17 yr old daughter not receiving child care credit if her birthday was in October and is still a high school student?

You mean the child tax credit?  You lose the child tax credit for the year in which the child turns 17--no exceptions.   Instead you get the $500 credit for other dependents.

In order to claim the Child Tax Credit, a child must be UNDER 17 years old.  This means 16 years old or younger on the last day of the tax year.  So since she turned 17 in 2024, she is not eligible to be claimed for the child tax credit.

Since she is 17, you would be able to claim the $500 Other Dependent Credit.
