It is better to enter your Medical and Dental expenses in your Federal return in TurboTax.

Even if you take the Standard Deduction, this info will then flow into your State return for you without re-entering.

Many states will give you a deduction for expenses you entered in your Federal return that you were not able to claim there.

Type 'medical expenses' in the Search window, then 'Jump to medical expenses' for the entry area.
