I know that this year they are included and counted as a dependant. Is that something new? My old tax returns from 2012 I believe the filer didint file it right. He was in his late 20's or 30's at that time and it was the first year my daughter was no longer a dependant because she was 18. I was expecting a refund and asked her if she put down he was hadicapped/diasabled and she said yes. I cant find the form now but She probably should have listed him as a dependent or would it not have mattered at that time? Someone please help!

If the person is permanently and totally disabled, they needn't be under 19 (or under 24 and a student) to be a dependent.
This includes the requirement for the Earned Income Credit.
It would be too late to amend a 2012 return, are you asking about amending past year returns?
HERE are the requirements to be claimed as a dependent.
To qualify as a dependent, a child must also pass these tests:

@Karen992
It seems like you are asking about a return that was filed years ago---for 2012? Sorry---but it does not seem like you know if you got EIC then or what happened on that return. But it is years too late to go back and amend a 2012 tax return to seek a better refund. Concentrate on the returns that have been prepared and filed for 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024---those are the ones that you could do something about if mistakes were made.
