We sold 1 acre of our property to a builder. Because the builder delayed in filing the land split paperwork with the county we had to pay for property taxes on the acre sold for 9 months after the closing. We finally got reimbursed for this. Do we need

The reimbursement is for the 9 months of property taxes.  

You have two choices, list the total sales price plus the reimbursement as income with a deduction for the 9 months of property taxes, or put in your tax file the situation and not deduct the nice months of property taxes anywhere on your return.

The reimbursement is for the 9 months of property taxes.  

You have two choices, list the total sales price plus the reimbursement as income with a deduction for the 9 months of property taxes, or put in your tax file the situation and not deduct the nice months of property taxes anywhere on your return.
