TTx automatically generated form 8889-T

I read in the answers to users questions that form 8889-T should be autmatically generated by Turbo Tax, but I don't seem to have this, as it's asking me to fill out information about 8889-T "Line 18 Wkst line A1", where do I find this info? Thank you!

You apparently answered Self or Family to the question, "What type of High Deductible Health Plan did [Name] have on December 1, 2023?"

So, did you actually have an HDHP policy in 2023, or did you have some other type of health coverage in 2023 (like regular employer insurance that was not a high deductible, or Medicare, or Tricare, or an FSA)? Many taxpayers don't realize that HDHP is a particular type of health insurance, and if you didn't have an HDHP in 2023, then you should answer NONE.

But if you did have an HDHP policy in December 2023, but made no HSA contributions in 2023, then you should answer NONE.

If you had an HDHP policy for every month in 2023, you should answer NONE.

It may happen that now that you have answered this question incorrectly, that TurboTax will insist on you completing the HSA interview and not let you e-file. The way to fix this is to delete all HSA information and then answer "none" if you see the question above again.

To delete the HSA information, please do the following:

1. make a copy of your W-2(s) (if you don't have the paper copies)

2. delete your W-2(s) (use the garbage can icon next to the W-2(s) on the Income screen

*** Desktop***

3. go to View (at the top), choose Forms, and select the desired form. Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.

*** Online ***

3. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

4. delete form(s) 1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)

5. go back and re-add your W-2(s), preferably adding them manually

Continue with your return.
