MY RETURN WAS REJECTED BECAUSE I WAS NOT ASKED ABOUT THE 1095A. SO. I DIDN'T INCLUDE IT ON MY RETURN. MY STATE RETURN ASKED ABOUT IT, I WAS ABLE TO FILE FOR AN EXEMPTION SINCE IT WAS LESS THAN THREE MONTHS. FEDERAL DOES NOT GIVE YOU THAT OPTION THAT I CAN SEE. WHAT DO I DO...IT INCREASED MY TAXES BY $500+, AND I AM 74 AND MY WIFE IS 65. IT WAS ON HER END.

SORRY,
THE ISSUE WAS NOT HOW TO FILL OUT THAT PART ON THE ACA... OTHER READINGS SUGGEST THAT THERE ARE EXEMPTIONS FOR PERIODS OF LESS THAN THREE MONTHS. I SEE NO AVENUE TO GET TO THEM ON THE FEDERAL SIDE. THEY WERE AVAILABLE ON THE NEW JERSEY STATE SIDE. BTW, I'M A FORMER IBM'r AND COME FROM AN IBM FAMILY IN THE BIRTHPLACE OF IBM, EDICOTT, NY!
On a Federal tax return there is not any type of exemption for having Marketplace insurance for 3 months or less in regards to the repayment of the excess Premium Tax Credit on the Form 8962.
THE TURBO TAX NOTE I READ STATED THAT PENALTY FOR NOT HAVING INSURANCE STOPPED IN 2017.
THANKS FOR REALLY NO HELP.
On a federal tax return you are not receiving a penalty for not having insurance. The penalty is a repayment of the Advanced Premium Tax Credit you received and as shown on the Form 1095-A and calculated on the Form 8962 Line 29.
Look at your tax return, Schedule 2 Line 2 Excess advance premium tax credit repayment , there should be an amount entered. The amount from Schedule 2 Line 3 Flows to Form 1040 Line 17 as a tax liability.
is your spouse on medicare becuase she is not supposed to be covered by marketplace insurance if she is
If you have a Marketplace plan, you can keep it until your Medicare coverage starts.
