My son completed his student teaching internship in the fall of 2020.  He was not paid, so was not an employee of the school system,  and had a commute to the nearest high school -accepting student teachers- from his college of 120 miles per day-round trip, 5 days a week for 5 months (August to December).  Can he claim any deductions for vehicle mileage, repairs, etc.? If so where do we enter those expenses?

Sorry--no, there are no deductions for commuting to the internship.   Commuting expenses to work or school are not deductible.
