Turbo tax not applying Recovery rebate credit for child born in 2021

Be sure you said the new baby lived with you the WHOLE YEAR! Go back and check that.
If you had a child born in 2021- Add them under My Info. You need to answer 2 questions…..
Did your child live with you for the whole year? Answer YES even if they were born late in the year (even on Dec 31).
Then was at least half of child's expenses paid by CHILD? Usually is NO.
Or your AGI is too high. Or did you lose a dependent? Your stimulus check is based on the number of qualifying people listed on your tax return. You don't receive a check for the new baby necessarily, it is just based on the number of qualifying people listed on your return.
So, if you lost one qualifying person you aren't claiming this year and replaced that person with a new baby, you still have the same number of qualifying persons on your return.
In the My Info section did you indicate the child lived with you for the whole year and lived in the US for the whole year? Did you indicate the child did NOT provide over one-half of their own support? Did you indicate that there was no one else in the home that supported the child? Did you NOT check box indicating the Social Security number was not valid for work?
Check your entries and and change as needed so the child will be eligible for the $1,400 Recovery Rebate Credit.
Have done all that
checked and rechecked, even deleted new dependent and reentered.
still nothing changes
Checked and rechecked.
added new dependent this year that did not receive $1400
turbo tax says I recieved all I am entitled to based on letter I recieved that stated stimulus amount before birth of child
@rpmorn What is the TurboTax program indicating for the amount you should have received for the 3rd stimulus payment?
Is it showing $2,800 (assuming you are married and file jointly) or is it showing $4,200?
It shows $4200 which is correct amount before new dependent added born in 2021

So you also have another dependent other than the child born in 2021 and received the stimulus payment for that dependent?
Yes there is another dependent besides the new dependent that was born after we recieved $4200

The following screen shot is what the TurboTax program presents when I have one dependent age 10 and another dependent born in 2021. If you are not getting a similar screen then there must be something you have entered for the child born in 2021 that is preventing the program from recognizing the child as a dependent.
Is your Adjusted Gross Income shown on the Form 1040 Line 11 $160,000 or more? If so, then you would not be eligible for the credit.
The program shows the child born in 2021 as a dependent. Falls below the income limits. But the screen I get does not show $5600 it shows $4200
In TurboTax online, at the screen Let's double-check the amount you received, you are not receiving a third stimulus check for a child born in 2021. If the screen is not awarding the third stimulus check, there must be something in the software that is not awarding you the newborn as a qualifying child.
The new dependent must be reported as a qualifying child for you to qualify for the third stimulus check on your 2021 Federal tax return.
A child is your qualifying child if the following conditions are met:
Under MyInfo for the dependent information, did you report that the new-born dependent lived with you the whole year? Does the child have a valid Social Security number?
Go back to My Info and make sure all of you are showing up. And you and your spouse are not showing up as being a dependent on someone else's return. Or one of your dependents is not showing up as a dependent. Are they both listed at the top of your 1040?
Before filing you can preview the 1040 or print the whole return

At this point I’m assuming it’s a software issue because the child born in 2021 is listed as a dependent in my info, recieved the child tax credit ( no advance payments for that child). Yes it shows the child lived with us the whole year and has a valid Social Security number. Still it is saying the $4200 recieved prior to the birth of the new dependent is the correct amount.
But is your other dependent still showing up as a dependent?
Here's part of an answer I copied from another post by xmasbaby......
Make sure you have entered your child as a dependent in My Info, and that you have entered the child's Social Security number. If your child was born in 2021make sure you said he lived with you the whole year. There is an oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support. Say NO to that question.
Or try deleting the child and re-enter his information in My Info. Try deleting both dependents.
