If you are taking the Standard Deduction, medical expenses will not change your refund amount.
If you are taking the Itemized Deduction, only medical expenses that go above and beyond 7.5% of your adjusted gross income will be added to the deduction.
If your expenses seem to add up to more than 7.5% of your adjusted gross income, try going through that section again and checking to be sure there are no unchecked boxes or amounts with odd characters.
Your adjusted gross income will show on line 11 of your Form 1040.

yes. there is a glitch. all these "experts" assume we are idiots and don't understand the difference between standard deduction and itemized deductions.
