I participate in a dependent care FSA. Why is this money showing on my W-2 and adding to my total taxable income? These are pre-tax dollars, and should be exempt from tax

because the IRS requires it to be reported. to avoid taxation you must complete form 2441 to show the amount used. any amount not used gets add back to taxable income.
